The IKA ULTRA-TURRAX® UTL 2000 is a high-performance, single-stage, in-line disperser designed for the production of emulsions and suspensions. Thanks to the effective grinding and mixing action of the rotor-stator system, which acts as a working tool, the UTL machine is successfully used when traditional mixing devices do not allow the desired dispersion results to be achieved.

The working tool of the single-stage disperser (generator) provides medium shear forces, sufficient for mixing and homogenization processes. In order to adapt the UTL dispersers to a wide range of mixing tasks, IKA offers a variety of generators for all machine sizes, consisting of rotor and stator parts. Each generator design corresponds to a certain specific energy, which is communicated to the phases being mixed. Due to the special geometry of the generator crowns, it is possible to process materials with different initial viscosities and particle sizes.

As in the popular batch machine ULTRA-TURRAX® UTC, in the current UTL the material is subjected to tangential and shear stresses, which contribute to optimal dispersion. The UTL can be used in continuous processes, where the final mixing takes place in a single pass, as well as in batch recirculation processes. The minimal volume of the working chamber of the UTL ensures uniform grinding of the product passing through it.

In a batch process, the UTL machine is installed in a circulation loop that passes through a working vessel with the product to be mixed.

In a fully continuous process, the components to be mixed are proportionally metered into the machine via different inlet connections. In the working chamber of the machine, these components are thoroughly mixed and dispersed. The homogeneous mixture is pumped out through the outlet. Absolutely all droplets and particles entering the working area of the UTL machine are crushed, resulting in a narrow size distribution and reproducible dispersion quality. The UTL 2000 machine also creates a head that allows low to medium viscosity products to be pumped up to a height of up to 20 m (approx. 2 bar).

The dispersant program includes eight sizes of the ULTRA-TURRAX® UTL 2000 with capacities from 50 l/h to 125,000 l/h. All machines operate at the same rotor speed, which ensures reliable scalability.
