The IKA ULTRA-TURRAX® UTL 2000 is a high-performance, single-stage in-line disperser for the production of emulsions and suspensions. Thanks to the efficient grinding and mixing action of the rotor-stator system, which acts as a working tool, the UTL machine is successfully used when traditional mixing devices do not allow achieving the desired dispersion results.
The working tool of the single-stage disperser (generator) provides medium shear forces, sufficient for mixing and homogenization processes. In order to adapt UTL dispersers to a wide range of mixing tasks, IKA offers various generators for all machine sizes, consisting of rotor and stator parts. Each generator design corresponds to a certain specific energy, which is transferred to the mixed phases. Due to the special geometry of the generator crowns, it is possible to process materials with different initial viscosities and particle sizes.
Like the popular ULTRA-TURRAX® UTC batch machine, the UTL in-line machine applies shear and shear stresses to the material to ensure optimum dispersion. The UTL can be used in continuous processes where final mixing occurs in a single pass, as well as in batch recirculation processes. The UTL's minimal chamber volume ensures uniform grinding of the product passing through.
In a batch process, the UTL machine is installed in a circulation loop passing through the working tank with the product being mixed.
In a completely continuous process, the components to be mixed are proportionally dosed into the machine via various inlet connections. In the machine's working chamber, these components are thoroughly mixed and dispersed. The homogeneous mixture is pumped through the outlet. Absolutely all droplets and particles entering the working area of the UTL machine are crushed, which results in a narrow size distribution and reproducible dispersion quality. The UTL 2000 machine also creates a pressure that allows low- and medium-viscosity products to be delivered to a height of up to 20 m (approx. 2 bar).
The disperser program includes eight sizes of ULTRA-TURRAX® UTL 2000 with capacities from 50 l/h to 125,000 l/h. All machines operate with the same rotor circumferential speed, which ensures reliable scaling.
