The basic machine for flow processing is equipped with a single-stage dispersing module ULTRA-TURRAX® UTL. It is best suited for batch processes and is usually integrated into a recirculation system with a working volume. Depending on the number of product passes through the working chamber of the machine, it is possible to adjust the degree of dispersion, or in other words, to obtain both coarse and fine dispersions. Compared to a traditional mixer, the processing time is reduced by up to 50%.

The DISPAX-REACTOR® DR module transforms the magic LAB® into a multi-stage high-performance dispersing machine for grinding droplets and particles to particularly small sizes. In just one pass, the DR module allows for the production of fine dispersions with a very narrow particle size distribution. In addition, it ensures optimal product homogeneity, which is particularly important for achieving long-term stability of emulsions and suspensions.
The CMS module is used for mixing solids and liquids; it is ideal for processes of saturating liquids with dry bulk products in the recirculation process. The powders are sucked into the working chamber of the machine thanks to the vacuum created at the solids inlet. The CMS module is an efficient device for homogeneous mixing without dust emission and lump formation.
The MHD module is designed for continuous mixing of powders and liquids. When using this module, it is necessary to ensure proportional supply of the mixture components using volumetric or gravimetric dosing devices. Depending on the product characteristics, it is possible to obtain dispersions with a viscosity of up to 50 Pas or with a solids content of up to 80% in just one pass.
The MK Colloid Mill and MKO Cone Mill modules are used for wet fine grinding of solid or granular materials or for the production of particularly fine emulsions. One of the popular applications of the MK and MKO mills is the fine final dispersion of previously obtained emulsions or suspensions. The MK module consists of two cones with differently directed grooves cut into their surfaces. The cones can be moved relative to each other, changing the friction and throughput. The smooth adjustment of the gap between the rotor and stator allows you to control the size of the resulting particles. The MKO module uses the same principle as the MK module; the difference is that its lower part is coated with a particularly hard coating with an extremely coarse surface texture. The friction surface increased in this way allows you to obtain even finer suspensions with, accordingly, a lower throughput of the machine.
If you turn the magic LAB® machine upside down and mount it on a telescopic stand, you get an immersion disperser for batch processes using the ULTRA-TURRAX® UTC module.
The magic LAB® machine can be expanded to a complete system with a working volume and a circulation circuit using peripheral elements of the Micro-Plant module. This system is ideal for testing new formulations and processes, as well as for selecting a dispersing tool. The most important process parameters - speed, shear force, product temperature, pressure and processing time - can be recorded and reproduced in subsequent tests or transferred to production-scale systems.
Two versions of the plant are offered: Micro-Plant with a one-liter single-walled open tank and Micro-Plant with a two-liter double-walled tank (with the ability to heat or cool the product). The design of the two-liter Micro-Plant allows you to work under pressure or vacuum. Both Micro-Plants are supplied with a recirculation pipeline and a three-way valve for switching between draining and pumping modes of the product from the disperser back to the tank.
In continuous operation of the magic LAB® machine, the product temperature can rise to 80 ° C and the operating pressure to 2.5 bar. In short-term operation, the seal material can be heated to 120 ° C. The 900 W motor power provides a speed of the dispersing tool in the basic configuration with the UTL module up to 26,000 rpm and a machine capacity of up to 130 l / h.
The control and information center is connected to the magic LAB® machine by a connecting cable. It can be used to set the rotation speed, turn on the timer, and read the actual values of technological parameters, including the rotation torque and temperature. The IKA labworldsoft® software allows you to control the magic LAB® machine from a personal computer.
