The IKA conical dryer type CD is designed for vacuum contact drying of solvent-moistened solids with different properties and packing densities.

During the drying process, not only the lid and walls of the container heat up, but also the spiral mixer.   Thus, the surface in contact with the product is maximally used for heat exchange, which ensures uniform distribution of humidity and temperature throughout the working area.

Heating (possibly up to 200°C) and simultaneous creation of a vacuum contribute to the effective evaporation of the liquid components of the mixture.   The solvent vapors formed are removed by a reversible dust filter.   The rotation speed of the spiral mixer, located on a cantilever, is smoothly adjustable.   A flow deflector built into the lid stimulates turbulence in the product processing area and prevents the material from rotating with the agitator.   The built-in optional lump breaker with cutting plates prevents the formation of agglomerates.

A significant innovation in the design of the dehumidifier is a combined device for lifting and rotating the lid or lifting and tilting the container.   A special tipping device ensures the lifting and turning of the lid together with the agitator for optimal control and cleaning of the work area.

Alternatively, this mechanism allows the container to be tilted with the lid closed.   The inclined position of the container during the process significantly increases the drying efficiency.   The advantages of mixing the product in an inclined position are due to the force of gravity acting on the product being dried, in addition to the forces arising from the operation of the mixer.   The container can be installed in any position at an angle from 0° to 45°.

The conical dryer is optionally equipped with a CIP (clean-in-place) mechanism and/or load cells.   Optional peripheral devices are installed at the customer's request, such as a loading or packaging system, a heating/cooling unit, a vacuum system with solvent regeneration function, as well as fully automated electrical control.

The IKA conical dryer range consists of eleven different sizes with a usable working volume of 10 to 10,000 liters.
